A step-by-step guide to migrate your cold wallets from Guildchat 1.0 to Guildchat 2.0.

After months of development, it’s almost time to say hello to GuildChat 2.0. Guildchat, one of the most popular apps for cryptocurrency lovers, will be updated with a completely new version, and we are beyond excited to reveal Guildchat 2.0 to our community.

The new version includes more chat features, a cryptocurrency news feed, a market cap within the app and a complete new design. However, Guildchat 2.0 has been improved mainly on a technical level, by using a different programming language. This means that during the transition from the old Guildchat to Guildchat 2.0, some data will need to be exported manually. But don’t worry, in this tutorial we will take you through the steps to transfer all data from the old version to Guildchat 2.0, such as backing up your Tron and Ethereum wallets and importing them.

Guildchat 2.0 will be launched as a complete new version in the App store to prevent users from losing their data. This means that you can install Guildchat 2.0, but are still able to open the old Guildchat version to import your data. So let’s first go over all the data that will not be migrated to Guildchat 2.0.

Which data do I need to import to Guildchat 2.0?

(Dapp) Browser history
Guildchat 2.0 uses a completely new and improved dApp Browser, which means that the entire browser history is not migrated to Guildchat 2.0. After installation you won’t find a list in Guildchat 2.0 of your recently visited websites or dApps that you bookmarked. However, it is very easy to add your favorite dApps in Guildchat 2.0. All you have to do is open the dApp browser in Guildchat 2.0, type in the dApp’s website and once you have opened the dApp, click the lower right corner on ‘Add Bookmark’. This feature allows you to play and find your favourite dApps even faster. If necessary, you can open the old version of Guildchat to find and copy your old bookmarks and browser history.

Chat history
All your group messages and private messages will not be visible in Guildchat 2.0. However, these can still be found in the old version of Guildchat. If you have messages that you don’t want to lose, make sure you copy them in a document or take a screenshot of them and save them on your device.

The flow-feed
In Guildchat 2.0 there will be no more flow available. Messages and images that you or your friends have shared and that you would like to keep will have to be copied by taking a screenshot or by copying the messages to a document.

The cold Ethereum and TRON wallets
Once you have installed Guildchat 2.0 and are logged into your account, you will see both your Ethereum Coin Pouch and your Tron Coin Pouch. However, the functions of the Coin Pouch will be temporarily disabled until the migration to Guildchat 2.0 has been completed. It is expected that the Coin Pouch and functions such as: withdrawal, recharge, coin drops, passwords and adding or removing a token will go live again 3 to 4 days after the launch.

Next to your Coin Pouch in Guildchat you also have an Ethereum Cold wallet as well as a TRON cold wallet. These wallets are completely managed by you and therefore you will have to import these wallets yourself to Guildchat 2.0.

Below we will explain how to back up your cold wallets and then import them into Guildchat 2.0. It is important to always make a good and safe backup of your cold wallets, since you are your own bank in crypto. Backing up and importing your wallets takes only 5 minutes.

How to back up your TRON and Ehtereum cold wallet from Guildchat?

Step 1: Open your wallet overview and select the wallet that you want to back up.
Open the old version of Guildchat and click in the lower right corner on ‘Me’. Next click on ‘Wallet’. At the top you will see the Coin Pouch, right under that you will see your cold TRON and Ethereum wallets. These are the wallets that we are going to back up. Select the wallet that you want to back up by clicking on it.

Please note: You will need to repeat the steps below for all the TRON and Ethereum wallets that you have connected.

Step 2: Open the selected wallet and export the private key
When you open you cold wallet, you will see an overview of your tokens. Click in the upper right corner on ‘Settings’ and choose ‘Export Private key’. After that you will need to input the password of your wallet and click ‘Confirm’.

Step 3: Copy your private key and make a back up
Once you’ve input your password, your private key will be visible. Your private key gives you access to all the functions of your TRON or Ethereum cold wallet. It’s important that you don’t share your private key with others to protect your funds, and make a double back up for safety. Click on ‘Copy’ and paste it in a document and save it on a USB or write it down.

How to import your TRON and Ethereum cold wallet to Guildchat 2.0

Step 1: Open your wallet overview
Open Guildchat 2.0 and click in the lower right corner on the ‘Wallet’ symbol. You will be redirected to your wallet overview, where you can find both your Coin Pouches and your cold wallets.

Step 2: Import your wallet
Under the text: ‘Your wallets’ you will see two options: ‘Create wallet’ or ‘Import wallet’. Click on ‘Import wallet’. Next you will need to choose if you want to import a TRON or an Ethereum wallet. Now you will need to ‘Copy’ your private key in your back up file and ‘Paste’ it in Guildchat 2.0. Then click on ‘Import wallet’. If you are importing an Ethereum Wallet you can also use the SEED or the KEY STORE instead of the private key.

Step 3: Submit the details for your wallet
Now you will need to add the details of your wallet. Start by choosing a ‘wallet name’ (to easily distinguish the different wallets). Next you will need to choose a ‘password’ for your wallet. Make sure to back up this password. You will need it when you want to make a transfer or export your private key. And lastly check the box to confirm that you accept to the terms and privacy policy and click on ‘Import’. After this you will be redirected to your wallet and are ready to use the imported wallet.

Step 4: Repeat the steps above for your other cold wallets
Every cold wallet needs to be imported. So after importing your cold Tron wallet, you also will need to import your Ethereum cold wallet. For this you can repeat the steps above. To import another wallet, go to the wallet overview and click in the upper right corner on the ‘+’ and choose ‘Import wallet’.
