The Idea Behind The Occasional Post

When I was in college, I was part of a weekly writing group that met in the back room of a pizzeria just off campus. We would gather to listen and share and comment on each other’s work (and drink, of course). It was good being amongst like-minded people. As the novice writer that I was, the group offered much-welcomed support and inspiration.

Occasionally, when the deadline for some small literary journal would get close or simply just to help with inspiration and writing, the group would come together around a given theme. A single idea was given along with a deadline and nothing else. That one seed germinated differently in each person within the group and the results were writings with great and unexpected diversity. Some inspired, some were hilarious, some humbled — all were welcomed.

This is the idea here. One common idea and a deadline. Fiction, personal writings, poetry, art, photography…we’ll gather around to share the occasional post about our life experiences, one topic at a time.
