Anderson nominated for Bill Masterton Trophy

Ottawa goaltender Craig Anderson was announced as the Senators nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy for his commitment to the team while balancing time to be with his wife Nicholle, who developed a rare form of cancer early last fall. The Bill Masterton Trophy recognizes “perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.” The Senators have never had a Masterton recipient, but there’s no question that Craig Anderson is deserving.

Anderson has an impressive 22 wins in 34 games with a 2.30 GAA (8th in the league) and a .927 save percentage good for number 2 league-wide.

Clarke MacArthur back in the hunt

Ottawa winger Clarke MacArthur has been dealing with a concussion following a hit from teammate Patrick Sieloff in practice in September of 2016, almost immediately after his return from a previous concussion that kept him out of play last season. The blindside hit resulted in a physical challenge from veteran winger Bobby Ryan and earned Sieloff a permanent place in the minors, where he usually plays top pairing.

On March 27th, MacArthur spoke to media with an injury update, indicating that he was feeling ready and was doing all he could do get back onto the roster. It appears there may be some pressure from management to keep him under wraps, but until he’s cleared by team doctors, no decision has to be made. The mentality for Clarke and the Senators as a whole seems to be “If not this year, next year,” and they’ll do what they can.

Colin White signs ATO

Blue-chip prospect and World Junior Championship standout Colin White signed a tryout agreement to play with the Binghamton Senators following his season with Boston College (33 points in 35 games)

Expect him to sign an entry-level contract with the big club at season’s end, which allows him to join Ottawa’s lineup for the playoff run. White will wear #10 in Binghamton and already recorded his first point on a primary assist from Jason Akeson’s goal vs. Syracuse in White’s debut.
