The Book of People
Chapter 1, Verses 1–35
What follows is a transcript of a recently-translated and previously-unknown scroll, found meticulously preserved in a cave near the Dead Sea. It expands upon the story of Jacob wrestling with the Angel of God originally found in the book of Genesis.
1 Jacob and the Angel of the LORD did meet on the field of combat
2 And they did engage in a bout, grappling each other over and over
3 For many minutes did they exchange blows, neither gaining the upper hand
4 Until Jacob did gain the upper hand over the Angel, and the Angel did kneel as though to submit to Jacob
5 When the Archangel Gabriel did appear to Jacob
6 And did profess that Jacob should not revel in his victory
7 For the path of forgiveness was that of a true man of GOD
8 However, Gabriel was not the legal man, and the referee did attempt to remove Gabriel from the field of combat
9 But, when the ref’s back was turned, the Angel, from his robes, did produce a set of brass knuckles
10 And the Angel did clock Jacob a good one across his face
11 And Jacob went down in a heap
