The Top 10 Ole Miss Football Quarterbacks of All Time
Ranked by career passing yards at Ole Miss.
Who made the top 10 list for quarterbacks at Ole Miss?
I’ve ranked them below from ten to one. The quarterbacks are sorted by passing yards.
#10 — Mark Young with 4,971 Passing Yards
Mark Young played quarterback at Ole Miss from 1985 through 1988. The team’s best season under Young was 1986, when they won 8 games. Billy Brewer was the head coach for Ole Miss.
#9 — Jevan Snead with 5,394 Passing Yards
Jevan Snead played during the best years under Houston Nutt (2008–2009). He was a transfer from Texas. Both years under Snead, the team won 9 games, including back-to-back Cotton Bowl victories.
#8 — John Fourcade with 5,412 Passing Yards
John Fourcade played at Ole Miss from 1978 through 1981. Fourcade never played on an Ole Miss team with a winning record. He did play from 1987 through 1990 in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints.
#7 — Jordan Ta’amu with 5,600 Passing Yards
Jordan Ta’amu played at Ole Miss from 2017 through 2018. He started the second half of the 2017 season after Shea Patterson got hurt. While Ole Miss was on probation during Ta’amu’s career, his Ole Miss teams were entertaining to watch thanks to a talented group of receivers (like D.K. Metcalf, A.J. Brown, and Dawson Knox).
#6 — Kent Austin with 6,184 Passing Yards
Kent Austin played for Ole Miss from 1981 through 1985. He was a starter for four seasons for the Rebels — a rare occurrence. During his career, Ole Miss had only one winning season — 1983.
#5 — Romaro Miller with 6,513 Passing Yards
Romaro Miller played at Ole Miss from 1997 through 2000. Ole Mis had a winning season every year of Miller’s career and won three out of four bowl games. Romaro Miller is also remembered for playing alongside players like running back Deuce McAllister.
#4 — Chad Kelly with 6,800 Passing Yards
Despite only playing two seasons at Ole Miss (2015–2016), Chad Kelly made quite an impact during his time at Ole Miss. He threw 31 touchdowns during the 2015 season. Ole Miss beat Alabama for the second straight year in 2015.
#3 — Matt Corral with 8,281 Passing Yards
No quarterback on this list overcame as much adversity as Matt Corral did at Ole Miss. Matt Corral endured multiple changes to the offense and grew into a star when Lane Kiffin arrived in Oxford. Matt Corral led Ole Miss to one of their best seasons in 2021.
#2 — Bo Wallace with 9,534 Passing Yards
Bo Wallace is the quarterback who started the Hugh Freeze era. He played very well for Ole Miss as a starter from 2012 through 2014. He upset Alabama in Oxford his senior year. Bo Wallace was one of the more consistent players on this list.
#1 — Eli Manning with 10,119 Passing Yards
Eli Manning being first on this list comes as no surprise to those who pay attention to Ole Miss football. Eli put together three stellar seasons as the starter at Ole Miss from 2001 through 2003. He was the first overall pick of the 2004 NFL draft and went on to a long career in the NFL with the New York Giants.
Many talented quarterbacks have come through Ole Miss, especially within the last twenty years.
With Lane Kiffin in Oxford, I wonder how long Eli Manning will remain at the top?
