Record-breaking 18,332 new COVID-19 caseload

August 23一 The Department of Health reported 18,332 new COVID 19 cases, the highest since the pandemic hit the Philippines, pushing the country’s total COVID-19 cases to 1,857,646.

Among all confirmed cases, 7% or 130,350 cases are considered active. Individuals with mild infections account for 94.8 percent of all active cases; 2.5% asymptomatic; 0.6% critical; 1.2% severe; and 0.92% for moderate cases. Meanwhile, the positivity rate stood at 24.9%.

Fatalities climbed to 31,961 with 151 additional deaths yesterday, while 13,794 new recoveries were also recorded bringing the total of survivors to 1,695,335 or 91.3% based on the DOH bulletin.

DOH has said that all testing hubs operated on Saturday, August 21. Meanwhile, three laboratories were not able to submit data on time.
