WHO WE ARE

The Omnivore syndicates the best of Culture Trip’s journalism across its various genre platforms—travel, food, arts, literature, entertainment, lifestyle, and activism—to provoke engagement and discourse with an audience willing to engage with a deeper read.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND NOTES

  • We are currently looking for reportage, essays, narrative and opinion pieces of 500 words or more related to Culture Trip. Work unrelated to CT is not currently being considered.
  • There is no extra $ compensation for stories published here, rather the purpose is to give a previously published piece further exposure. A number of our pieces have appeared as Medium editor’s picks and all articles published in a week will be highlighted in our Friday newsletters.
  • We accept older pieces if they are still relevant and / or evergreen.
  • We do not accept listicles, interviews, or impersonal pieces.
  • All submissions must include a header image as well as body text images.
  • Writers of the pieces must submit work from their own Medium account (submissions cannot be done on your behalf).
  • All writers should include bios and avatar images. The more generic you make your account, the less likely your work will be considered—we want to showcase our writers!
  • A submission does not guarantee publication. While a writer is welcome to submit more than one piece at a time, only one article per week by a writer will be considered for publication.
  • We reserve the right to alter the title and subtitle of an article from its CT original. If the body text requires alteration, an editor will be in touch.

How to Submit a Draft

Writers will need to have a Medium account and be an active Culture Trip writer to be considered. When you are logged in, request to become a “contributor” to the Omnivore by clicking on the “request to contribute” button at the bottom of this page. Once you have been accepted as a contributor, please use Medium’s process for adding a draft to a publication.

NB: Because of Medium’s unique algorithmic structure, which rewards articles based on views and likes (here called “recommendations”), we strongly encourage a writer to link their Medium account with any other social media they use in order to quickly accrue followers.
