Today’s catch was lean.

Naught but nibbles at the bait across the tide.

Heavy on the shoulder, and not with fish, the worn basket accompanies the fisherman on the slow walk back. The leather strap wears more weighted than most days.

Thoughts of tomorrow’s spot fill the mind. Today’s efforts not in vain; just not fruitful.

A low grumble breaks the reflection. One the basket’s offering will struggle to quell.

Tomorrow, is a new day.
