Meditation appears simple.

Everyone talks about how meditation gives them a better start to their day, so you know it works.

However, you are pulled in all directions and don’t have time to wake up at 5:00 a.m., sit still, and seek some elusive feeling of calm and inner peace.

And you are worn out at the end of each day from “Being the Strong Black Woman” and “Always Being There for Other People.”

Being a caring, driven person with a big heart, I also know what it’s like to carry the weight of family and society’s expectations, demands, and biases on our shoulders and struggle to take time to care for ourselves.

So, let’s change that.

Let’s try something different.

Let’s let go of the need to practice meditation as the only way to quiet and calm our minds.

Instead, let’s use the power of affirmations to find relief and ease from the day’s demands and start the day from a place of inner calm, especially if you feel groggy from the lack of sleep.
