My baby’s lesson in mindfulness as he enjoys the moment.
My happy little one in his high chair

My one-year-old son eats in his high chair perched in front of the dinner table.

It doesn’t matter what’s put in front of him — banana, crackers, a toy truck — he approaches them the same way. A puzzled look, followed by a grasp, and then in the mouth. This will keep him entertained for 20 minutes.

His brother snatches the truck. “That’s mine,” he declares and walks off.

My baby looks at him, pauses, and then seemingly forgets the toy was taken. His attention moves to the next item in front of him.

This ability to forgive and forget is impressive. His focus on the present gives him happiness.

It’s a humbling reminder of how I should behave.
