Finding Peace in Small Moments of Time

It’s evening by me, and I try my best to enjoy the grace and stillness of the night as passing thoughts rush through my mind. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. Society rewards us for working our tail feathers off, blurring the line between work and having a life.

What if work is your life?

Each day, we are filled with at least a million choices, some more heavily weighted than others.

We decide when to wake up, how we present ourselves, if we want to move our bodies.

We decide how we react to those around us and if we want to be happy.

Call me crazy but I think that happiness is a choice. Granted, sometimes it’s a hard one. This is especially true on the days that life isn’t happening for us in the way we would prefer it to.

When I sit at my computer and tap, tap away, I try to remember my “why.” Why do I do what I do? It is out of habit, fear of change…am I self-sabotaging?

Of course, we can all do better and be better in all sorts of ways. From exercising more to watching what we consume…but it isn’t a perfect world, and everything is just as it is at this very moment. Everything is just how it should be, even when it doesn’t seem that way.

No one can force us to do anything. We are in control.

We all get triggered, feel angry at times, and get fed up with small (or major) inconveniences and hardships that are all a part of the human package.

So, this evening, I breathe deeply as I tap, tap, tap away. I am happy, blessed, loved. I am fulfilled. I have to remember to love myself more and to always make time for those who I love.

Tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us, and before we know it, we all turn into a memory.

Let’s make the most of what we have while we have it. Be kind, work hard, feel love, and take care.
