It is is our birthright to have the freedom to express ourselves. Children do this with abandon. Why do adults find it so difficult?

We freely talk about frustrations, blame, unhappiness and gossip. However, the important words we need to say we rarely do.

When adults open up they feel vulnerable. Being honest and forthright creates space for possible ridicule and shame.

The price we pay for not expressing ourselves is high.

3 Things That Happen When We Don’t Express Ourselves:

We end up losing sight of what we desire. After years of denying our inner voice, we lose a connection with that voice. We bury our needs under a list of excuses. Or more damaging, we rationalize that we didn’t deserve any better. We shame ourselves for daring to want more out of life. But buried desires and needs never die. They rear their heads in other ugly ways. What we really want remains fighting for survival. In the end, our minds do not have the strength to bury our needs. Our needs and desires will always find a path for expression.
