A Boy Growing Up

One day in the far far past, a baby boy was born. His parents looked at him and said, “He shall be named after his father, John.” Then since they had to give him a middle name they decided as an afterthought to dub him Raymond. The baby boy was known as Ray ever after. But as it turns out, it wasn’t such a happily-ever-after life for Ray.

He was an active and energetic boy just like most boys are. He was curious and adventurous and loved to explore whenever he could find the time. And he found the time quite often since he also loved to get away from home. It was not a good situation for him at home, sometimes his dad would yell at him for doing something kid-like and then at other times his dad would take off his belt, and…well what usually happened next is better left unsaid.

This went on for several years and the tension kept getting worse. Finally, one day, Ray’s dad made the decision to send him off to live with grandma. So later that week, Ray arrived at his new home and wondered what it would be like this time. Would he be wanted or unwanted? Loved or…
