The Song My Heart Sings

A poem about longing.

Beyond the mountains, where the sunset disappears,
Therein lies something unseen and pure.

My heart’s a compass that seeks true north,
And burns for a love that defies time’s course.

In the quiet of twilight’s embrace,
Shadows linger from the scenes I trace.

I find myself lost in reverie,
Aching for what may never be.

She courses through my veins,
With words unsaid like unopened lines.

The sound of her name echoes through the moonlit skies,
In a tune that transcends earthly confines.

I pine for her touch and whispering vow,
As my yearning paints constellations on my brow.

Our lips brush together like a flower pedals’ touch,
A stolen kiss in the darkness of the night’s clutch.

When I blinked, she slipped away,
Leaving me with the burden of longing’s sway.

I hope that in the void, love will unfurl its wings,
But until then, desire becomes the song my heart sings.
