What stunned me about my conversation with Jordan was her 20+ years of experience running companies and her genuine love for pursuing her vision and passions.

A well-seasoned entrepreneur, Jordan Brighton has been running businesses ever since she was a teenager. Now, she’s on her fourth startup. One thing that all her startups have in common? They all explore new frontiers of technology.

She credits her entrepreneurial spirit to her love of the buzz around doing something new and being in a space where there are no rules. The minute she saw VR, she knew it would be her next project to tackle. Once the decision was made, she diligently started working towards this goal. For a year, she travelled up and down the west coast to every VR/AR meet up and conference she could find. She met people who were already in the VR space to see what everyone was doing. Once she got a sense of the industry, she founded Virtro Entertainment Inc.

JORDAN BRIGHTON: FOUNDER & CEO OF VIRTRO ENTERTAINMENT INC.

Virtro Entertainment INC is a rapid growth start-up focused on delivering rich content within the Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) space. Our key focus is to capitalize on the explosive growth of the hardware development to provide much needed content to fill rapidly expanding demand.

A few key takeaways…

Failures are often the best lessons.

Whatever doesn’t work is something else that you know how to do. If everything came easy, everyone would be doing it. Failures prepare you for the difficult challenges that come along. Once you’ve failed a few times, you become more resilient.

In Jordan’s last animation company, during the early stages, Jordan and her team thought they had a great idea. They worked on it for 6 months before realizing that it simply wouldn’t work. They had to make a tough decision: keep investing time, effort, and money to try and fix it or delete it and start again from scratch. After intense discussion, they chose the latter.

From this “failure,” Jordan and her team were able to learn from their mistakes. In the following 6 months, they were able to have 6 great episodes made.

Make pressure your friend.

Pressure can help push you to the next milestone that you may not reach if everything is easy going. It acts as a great motivation to succeed. Your behaviour changes to help you manage the situation more effectively and productively. If your vision and belief is strong, there is always a way.

Make decisions quickly. If you take too long, you miss opportunities.

Every single day you have to make a hundred little decisions. Figure out a way to master making good decisions. Learn the psychology of your own mind to live with the decisions that you make. Every person does it differently.

Research. Talk to other people; get out of your own head. Bounce your ideas off of people you trust. Use your intuition. Be prepared to change your decisions if they don’t work out the way you thought they would.
