The Org, the world’s largest professional community for teams, has been named in the Forbes Top 20 Cloud Startups to Watch for 2020, in a move that both recognizes and celebrates transparency in business.

We’re in very good company, being named alongside some big industry hitters including Substack, Roam Research, and Descript.

The Cloud 100 Rising Stars recognizes 20 startups that, according to Forbes, are on the cutting edge of the industry, all with the potential to be among tomorrow’s top private cloud companies.

In 2016, Forbes launched The Cloud 100, a list of the world’s top private cloud companies which has gone on to become one of the most important awards in the sector. As a precursor to the main list, Forbes created The Cloud 100 Rising Stars, a look at 20 startups with the potential to make the main list in the future that over the years, has proven to be a good indicator of future success for companies in cloud computing. Many of previous years’ Rising Stars have gone on to graduate to the Cloud 100 list. Canva, Toast, Front and Figma are some of them.

This year, the Rising Stars were handpicked by Forbes, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Salesforce Ventures. Of the list, 12 companies are based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Three, including The Org, are based in New York City. The founders come from a variety of backgrounds. Some are veterans of the industry, like Groupon co-founder and former CEO Andrew Mason, who now leads Descript. Others are young first time founders.

“We are absolutely honored to be recognized alongside our prominent industry peers,” said Christian Wylonis, co-founder and CEO at The Org. “This is yet another validation of our ambitious goal of helping companies build better teams through increased corporate transparency. We feel more motivated than ever to shine a light on a company’s greatest asset — its people.”

Wednesday’s announcement comes during a time of rapid growth for The Org. In February, the company raised $8.5 million in a Series A round led by Founders Fund with participation from Sequoia, Balderton, and a number of angels. Today, there are over 100,000 organizations on The Org’s platform.

We are on a mission to make organizations more transparent. Organizations can show off their team, announce new hires, and post jobs for free. They can highlight what makes them special and acknowledge the people who make that possible. We believe that transparency will lead to a business world that is more connected and more egalitarian.
