“Working with Alex has involved numerous late-night ‘cranking sessions’ in the Copenhagen office,” Thor Olesen, our Senior Software Engineer shares. “We would find a war room, cancel all our meetings, and work with a relentless focus. We’re both the kinds of (quiet) people that work until the job is done and celebrate the accomplishment with a big mighty feast before passing out and resuming the next day.”

We’re thrilled to announce Alex Spivak as The Org’s Technical Growth Manager, helping bring ideas to life that help grow our userbase.

“I enjoy analytics and supporting different teams. My strengths are in a broad set of skills beyond analytics — a little engineering, a little growth. Growth is essential to The Org. I followed the movement to have ‘growth’ in my title because it can be from analytics and dashboards to building things and experimenting and generally just solving problems. I think that’s the theme of what my job is.

It’s particularly common in startups for people to gain clarity in their work as they do the actual work. Last summer, two of Alex’s closest teammates joined the team — Carl Bager, our first growth intern and then about a month later, Alec Costanza. “Working with both of them and realizing that they generated unique ideas and finding problems to solve within the company — whether traffic related or data quality related — that’s when I realized I wanted to be in Growth. I enjoyed enabling these ideas and bringing them to life — prototyping things and experimenting.”

Alex describes one his personal accomplishments being the improvement in traffic data. “There’s a real impact in what I’m doing — a combination of SEO strategies, bios, content, and teams.” Sharing a similar sentiment to Thor, Alex thoroughly enjoys working with our Copenhagen team, too. “New York is a lot more business facing and when solving these types of problems technical support is required which means working with our Copenhagen-based engineers who are a super talented, fun group of people. It’s refreshing to go to Denmark and work with that side of the business. Every time I travel, I learn so much.”

We’re so lucky to have you on the team and appreciate the passion you bring every day. Congratulations on the promotion, Alex! 🎉
