Team announcement

The Org has secured our first Data Analyst and it’s safe to say it was worth the wait. Meet Alexander Spivak. Born and raised in Avon, Connecticut, Alexander recently graduated from Cornell University with a major in Information Science with a concentration in data science and a minor in creative writing.

Prior to joining The Org, Alexander worked as an Analytics Consultant for a cloud-based data analytics consulting firm. In addition to the important work he was responsible for there, he took it upon himself to build a “smart kegerator” that tracked and monitored the office keg volume and flow, received live data on beer ratings, brewery location and ABV, and is even integrated with Slack to notify his then-colleagues about the current beers on tap. Alexander now joins our New York office to aid our Head of Analytics in delivering insightful data across our organization (and hopefully make all of our kitchen appliances smarter in the process).

Looking ahead, Alexander has goals of one day building a product of his own and becoming a startup founder, so he is eager to learn from those around him at The Org. “In this data analyst role, I get to hone and refine those necessary skills such as problem-solving, growth strategy and product design. Through the ability to work across so many departments, I am able to absorb so much in so little time,” Alexander said. “To have this opportunity to work with this incredible team every day is a jumpstart for anyone interested in working with startups.”

While work and play are vastly different for some, Alexander loves combining his personal interests with his professional passion. In his free time, he loves watching sports (especially the Arsenals) and has built a fully functional social sports betting platform to track individual bets and compare with friends. Similarly, Alex loves skiing, so he took his passion one step further by building a million-plus data point backend app that warehouses snow forecasts and historical data for every ski resort in North America. Additional hobbies of his include cooking elaborate meals from a wide variety of cultures and writing sci-fi short stories.

“At the end of the day, I just like to build things. Whether it is helping refine the analytics pipeline, building dashboards for different teams, or supporting in any technical ways that fall outside the job description, I am eager to take ownership of any tasks thrown my way,” Alexander said.

Welcome to the team, Alexander! We can’t wait to see what amazing things you build next.
