In a significant move, Taiwan and the United Kingdom have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will facilitate the export of organic products between the two countries.

This agreement marks a critical step, as both nations will now recognize each other’s organic food and processed products. For Taiwan, this recognition aligns with the regulations stipulated in its Organic Agriculture Promotion Act, paving the way for a more streamlined import process of organic goods.

The MOU targets a variety of products, with the U.K. focusing on importing Taiwanese goods such as organic tea, rice flour, mixed grain cookies, processed fruit juice, organic rice, and gluten-free grains. Meanwhile, Taiwan is set to receive British organic coffee, beverages, and processed food products.

This bilateral agreement not only enhances trade relations but also underscores a shared commitment to promoting organic agriculture, benefiting consumers and producers in both countries by broadening market access and encouraging sustainable farming practices.
