Before Taipei can contend with the issues of political flag waving in the stands of the 2017 Universiade, they must ensure those stadia exist, reports the United Evening News.

They allege that as of July, construction had been subcontracted out to building firms on only 17 of the 53 venues.

But in the China News, Su Li-chiung downplayed such concerns saying that many venues have projected construction times just three to eight months and that Taipei has allocated over 100 days to the operational testing of the venues ahead of the August 19 opening ceremony.
