Olympians offered chance to become Masters

Masters Games

You may be an Olympian now, but can you be a Master? That is the question one of the Other Olympics has flown to Rio to ask and promote itself to current and former Olympians.

Around the Rings has reported that the World Masters Games sent Kiwi Anthony Moss — twice Olympic swimmer in ’84 and ’88 — to offer Olympians a special registration discount.

One former Olympic champion set to join him is Seb Coe, who has signed on as an international goodwill ambassador for the Games.

If the current president of the International Amateur Athletics Federation chooses to run in his favoured 800m and 1,500m events that could make things tricky for his rivals in the 55–65 year old age classification. However as one masters athlete once told the Other Olympics; “If you train hard, stay fits and outlive the competition the medal will be yours one day.”
