The World As I Know It

What?: Farmer defines agency as, “The capabilities of each person.” I believe my own personal agency helped me push myself when I thought that I was not brought into this world without a purpose. When I was younger, I did not think of myself having a bright future. I thought that I would just go into a trade and live the half-ass life that I was surrounded by. When I think of structural violence, I think of the organized violence of the Civil Rights Movement. The way the people came together and had one goal. The way that Farmer introduces the concept of knowing the geographical and historical background is essential. I believe there is a back story to any situation and how is it possible to only ‘skim the top’ and know what something or someone is about. As farmer says, “The world as we know it is interconnected” and that is more truth than anyone can explain.

So What?: Honestly, This text was overwhemly and even the disscussion in class did not help very much. Im sorry, but I cannot reflection on this section.

Now What?: I completely agree with was Julia stated in her reflection about the inequality not only being problem in the U.S., but also as a global problem. The special treatment that one group of people recieve could have neever been used with others. The people who think things have changed do not have their eyes opened enough. They need to take their blinders off because there is still a good amount of change we need.
