Think of it as gooey mud that sticks to your shoes. Every step is becoming incrementally different. Like knee level quicksand that doesn’t let you move forward, but leaves a sinking feeling in your heart.
Marathoners know it as that point in the run when it feels like the gas has emptied out — the moment when the devil inside talks aloud, asking you to throw in your towel.
If you’ve read books, you definitely would have faced the wall. It is right up front in some books, preventing you from reading any further. The book then resides on your table, giving you guilty looks for giving up. So soon.
It hits a marketer and the creative process as well. It’s as if the arrow moves swiftly, leaving wind eddies in its wake. Then suddenly hits an invisible bubble shield and then on moves in millimeters.
Can we go around the wall? Should we go through it? Or go back a few steps and travel in another direction?
Your wall is different from mine.
I know it will make an appearance in every project and every initiative.
When stuck in quicksand, one should not panic, try to align as horizontally as possible, and slowly stroke towards safety.
When I hit the creative wall, I leave the problem and focus on other tasks. There will always be an aha moment as the subconscious will continue to chip away at a solution. A focus on multiple disparate tasks will assist in breaching the wall. Counterintuitive, but works for me.
I will try everything to cross this wall and complete my objective.
What will you do?
