WHY THE WHY?
THE FRUSTRATION OF IDEATING FOR OTHERS!
And yet one ideates: The Outlier’s dilemma!
As a problem solver, the mind kicks in to find solutions, options, alternate ways. It is inherent in some.
Think of it like getting on a bicycle after years. There is muscle memory in the brain, as well.
And so we ideate. Think of different possibilities, scenarios, and action items.
We prioritize them, shortlist and finalize the list to a couple of steps to start.
We then pass it on to the client or team to put things in motion. Then?
No feedback. Does it work? What happened? What is going on?
The frustration of ideation comes in:
- When ideas never reach the logical conclusion.
- When nothing is done about the ideas.
- When there is tokenism: We used your brains so we could present different ideas to our management. And get on with business as usual, thank you very much.
AND THEN THEY COME BACK FOR MORE IDEAS!
Yet you go on ideating because that’s what you’re good at! This time though, you take a clear stake in the execution of your ideas.
If there is going to be frustration, let me the cause of it and let me have the power to end it.
Here’s a Quatrain that defines it best.
To do it because it has to be done.
Doing it the best way possible, Suo Moto.
Doing it such that it meets the set objective, and then some more.
Three steps done well makes you an outlier. And a professional.
