Green Bay Cuts Key Defensive Veteran
Green Bay has officially released a defender and the name may not be all that surprising.

Cohesiveness is a major factor in teams competing for a championship. Relationships and team chemistry are forged in the late summer heat on practice fields across the NFL landscape.
With that in mind it’s never easy to part ways with personnel. Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy has gone on record saying that it’s the hardest part of his job. By far.
But as difficult as that action may be it’s also a necessary evil in the process of finding the best 53 men available.
We stress the word available because in order to contribute to the goals of the team you have to be on the field.
Letroy Guion- unavailable for the first four games of 2017 due to violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs- was formally released this afternoon.
He appeared in 44 games with 35 starts in parts of three seasons and was a valuable rotational defender in the Packers 3–4 scheme.

Guion had almost annually been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons during his time in Titletown. Highlighted by his most recent off season arrest for driving under the influence while on a trip to Hawaii in June when he confidently remarked he only drank “the hard stuff.”
He also endured a suspension lasting three games in 2015 for his violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.
Easing the loss is second year defensive lineman Dean Lowry. The former Northwestern standout and fourth round pick in 2016 has absolutely dominated training camp in individual drills and in 11–on-11 sessions and projects to start at end in the base defense. The Packers also recently signed University of Arizona free agent defensive tackle Aiula Fanane.
The Packers will likely boast a defensive front rotation of some combination of Mike Daniels, Kenny Clark, Ricky Jean-Francois, Christian Ringo, Brian Price and rookie Montravius Adams.
Guion made 83 total tackles and had 3.5 sacks during his time in Green Bay.
The former Florida State Seminole was originally a fifth round draft pick by the rival Minnesota Vikings in 2008.
