Ostara — The Spring Equinox (A Quick Guide)
The Spring Equinox is the celebration of the first day of spring, as well as the celebration of a time when there is equal day and night. As a major sabbat, it is common to celebrate Ostara as a time of renewal and rebirth! We commonly celebrate the spring equinox with symbols of fertility, such as eggs, baby animals, and much more!
Ostara is the original celebration of Easter, which is where many of the Easter traditions came from. Hiding eggs, rabbit symbols, and even wearing pastel colors all originated from the celebration of Ostara. It wasn’t until it was deemed a church holiday that the original meaning and celebration of Ostara was distorted for the church’s purpose.
