Behind the code: Software Engineer, Serge Kushmar, PandaDoc
Our third introduction as we peek behind the code is to Serge Kushmar, Software Engineer.
Serge loves solving client problems as he delivers code for our PandaDoc API. At age 16, Serge knew an informatics-related specialty at university was the right path for him. He wanted to continue the fun and inspiration he felt from Pascal and informatics classes in high school.
Serge earned a Master’s Diploma in artificial intelligence in applications from Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. In addition to computer science, he studied semantic knowledge bases and programming languages to operate with them. He enjoyed Python the most, in addition to studying C, C++, Prolog, and Java.
He showed prowess right out of the gate writing JavaScript as a frontend developer while still at university. Even as a new programmer, he was able to develop a column/row resizing feature for tables (similar to MS Word).
Serge once implemented an integration between PandaDoc and a CRM system by himself in two weeks. With such a quick integration the team was able to start a co-marketing campaign to help serve additional clients. Serge also drove the PandaDoc integration for Zoom. After an interesting journey with many challenges in product, software architecture, and security concerns, PandaDoc was among the first in Zoom meeting applications.
As Front-end Developer for the Ecosystem Track at PandaDoc, Serge loves investigating client issues and helping to solve client problems with automation products, APIs, and integrations.
Serge strives to deliver engineering excellence and product impact in his code. Serge’s team is improving overall performance by completely re-engineering the frontend service to support JavaScript SDK. The new frontend will be more stable and improve UX in PandaDoc integrations.
When Serge is not working, he enjoys time with his family. His young daughter keeps his brain active, solving her challenging questions as she explores the world. He also enjoys contemplating tricky questions posed in the intellectual game “What? Where? When?”.
Serge has no fear of making mistakes. He quotes Nelson Mandela: “I never lose. I either win or learn.”
