5 Important Reasons Why We Are Exercising Caution Around Youth Sports
My husband and I both played youth sports, too.
When it comes to youth sports, my husband and I are not diving all the way in with our 6-year old son.
We have dipped our toes in soccer, swim lessons, karate, and run club.
Three out of the four, my son hated.
And only one of those we truly liked.
It’s not as if we despise sports either.
We are big sports people. To watch and play.
Growing up, I tried just about everything: soccer, ice skating, ballet, gymnastics, acro, tap dancing, jazz dancing, basketball, and softball.
Softball, basketball, and ballet I stuck the longest with.
From about 6-years old until I was 15, I played softball in the spring and early summer. Basketball was in the fall and early winter. Ballet I did year-round. I did group and private lessons.
I was decent at basketball and softball. However, someone should really have told my parents it’s okay to squash your kids’ dreams when it comes to ballet.
