A Parenting Win With Benefits
This win may ripple through generations
One of the toughest jobs in the world is to be a parent.
It’s well known that after you have a baby, it’s up to the parents to figure out how to raise it. What works for one child doesn’t work for another.
You may wait years to find out if your parenting habits worked.
It’s like tossing a pebble in the water and waiting to see the ripples spread. Where and how far will they go? The ripples can go out in all directions. Did your parenting actions work for the best?
You may need to wait to see the ripples come back in your direction.
Recently, I had a ripple come back to me. It was in the form of a Christmas gift, but it spoke volumes.
The gift told me I did something right as a parent.
A Parenting Habit Worth The Time
There is one habit parents can develop that works for all children.
Developing a read-aloud habit with your child(ren) is a parenting win.
I read aloud to my sons for fifteen years. Every minute was worth it. The books ranged from picture books like Blueberries For Sal and Dr. Suess’s ABCs to Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
