Growing up, Christmas in my family always began with the simple act of lighting a single candle. My mother would dim the lights, and we’d gather around the Advent wreath. The faint glow of the flame seemed to hold our little world together. It wasn’t about the gifts or the glittering tree; it was about the quiet magic of that shared moment — a tradition that reminded us of love, hope, and togetherness.
Now, as I reflect on this season, I’m reminded of the importance of creating traditions in our families. They anchor us amidst life’s changes, becoming cherished rituals that bring us closer and give meaning to our celebrations.
This Christmas feels a little different for me. Recently, I was diagnosed with cancer, a journey I am only beginning to navigate. This season has brought unexpected opportunities for reflection and growth, reminding me of the importance of connection, self-care, and gratitude for life’s small wonders.
