Dads, Please Volunteer In Your Kids’ Schools
Do it for your kids, but also do it for the other parents
As the former secretary of our middle school Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), I’d like to speak with you for a moment about volunteering.
And here’s what I have to say: Men? Volunteer at your kids’ schools.
There’s lots of reasons we all need you to do that. For one, there are a lot of benefits to volunteering. For another, you might enjoy seeing your kid in their regular habitat.
But mostly? I’m a mom, and I’m tired of volunteering by myself, and I need you on hand to add “a little something” to the environment.
The little something I learned behind a public library service desk
I don’t have a lot of empirical research to back up my belief that, in any situation, if you have a few men around who are on your side, everything’s going to go a lot more smoothly.
