Castor Club, Paris
Castor Club, opened in 2012, is another one of Paris’ hidden gems. Down a bit of an alleyway, tucked away. When we arrived we weren’t quite sure if we were at the right place or not. But a tiny sign in a glass box on the wall soon confirmed we were indeed at the door of Castor Club.
As we stepped in I was in awe and wowed by the decor. Beautiful lampshades with illustrations of monkeys, giraffes and scenes of late 1800's African jungle. They reminded me of when sailors would travel to new territories and discover new lands. Now here I was discovering another new bar.
Castor Club is full of perching places with conveniently placed ledges to place your drinks, as well as seating at the bar itself.
I was mesmerized as I watched the bartenders do their thing. Mixing and shaking some wonderful concoctions. The cocktails were inventive and beautifully balanced. Definitely gave me some inspiration for different things to try out myself.
Figuring out a menu in another language is a rather fun game, but we managed to figure them out. There was one incredible cocktail that have since returning back to Bristol we have tried replicating.
I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a little bit different to the other speakeasy style bars in Paris but still warm and inviting with an air of professionalism about it.
