Biden Might be a Lame Duck, but He Isn’t Shuffling Quietly into Retirement
He has scrambled over the past two months to cement his legacy.
President Joe Biden only has a few weeks left in office, but in a post-election address to the nation, he said, “Let’s make every day count.”
And that appears to be exactly what he’s doing.
Here are some of the moves his administration has made to secure his legacy and strengthen his agenda since Vice President Kamala Harris conceded defeat to Donald Trump.
The Environment
The Environmental Protection Agency recently set a nationwide deadline for removal of lead pipes and announced nearly $3 billion to help local water systems comply. Oil and gas companies for the first time will have to pay a federal fee if they emit methane above certain levels.
President Biden is set to ban new offshore oil and gas development across 625 million acres of US offshore areas, as reported by several online sources, including Bloomberg News, Reuters, the New York Times and the Washington Post.
He is expected to issue two memorandums next week that prohibit future federal oil and gas leasing across large swaths of the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the eastern Gulf of…
