Sit down children
for there is a story
I must tell about the
dragon on the hill

This dragon sits
on the hill many
kilometers away
from where you and I lay

It contemplates
should I set this —
our village, astray
or ease-drop on
what we as villagers say

You may not know this
but dragons care very
much about their perception
they, like us, just want to be liked

So sometimes they burn
down homes and landmarks
such as the tall statue of King Greg
to make sure we notice them
alright

Have you ever seen this dragon
visit your uncle or mum?
No, I haven’t either because this
dragon thinks we do not want it come
near us

Which is a shame as its
flames could replace all grills
and make for heck of a BBQ

This dragon on the hill gets
sad due to negative press
it would like to visit but would
cause our village so much stress

Because you know we want
to impress it with our cool traditions
such as “Dancing Wednesday”
where we all dance in the village square
laying our soles bear to the
Earth and its gifts

Don’t listen to your uncles
who say Dragons grift
bones from our ancestors
and obtained items from
the dark market

Conspiracies I tell ya

So what do you say
lets end this story in a good way
and surprise that dragon on
the hill with a party so grand
it will consider purchasing some land
or composing us an anthem?

(Like America’s but more feisty)

Or maybe just being our friend
that would be nice wouldn’t it?

Let’s hope when we get there
the dragon on the hill continues
to sit still and does not burn off
all our clothes and flesh

as that would not be as you say —
chill
