It Might Be Too Late

A poem.

Age is but a number
They say you can achieve
Anything at any age
But here I am getting older
Doing nothing with the life
I have

The potential they saw
The fire in me
They believed was there
Is dwindling

I do nothing to stop it
But I know I can
I can’t let the fire die
But I stand in my own way
To my throat, a metaphorical knife

While I do nothing with my life…
But sit here and write
