Miracle Mile, Los Angeles (Photo by LB)

Black tar bubbles seep up through the cement
The dogs pulling hard on their owners’ leashes

Wild school kids tumble down the grassy hills
Laughing and filing back onto field trip buses

Familial joy leaves its mark on the sculptures
Trailing the soft rising sound of seasonal jazz

Miracle light reflects on the transit windows
As a city sun returns home again on Wilshire
