There Is Really No Need to Submit to Larger Publications

I have a loyal readership base. It may not be as large as some of the writers who have been here for a while (although I’m nearly at 10K followers in under two years as a content creator). And it might not grow as fast as some of the creators who have YouTube channels (giving access to your audience via video is the fastest way to grow a fan base. Content consumption is easy via video. I’m too private to be a YouTuber, plus I don’t like my voice) but I’m growing a steady, loyal stream of followers to my account and the three publications I run.

Here are my three pubs listed below: 2K followers, 1.4K followers, and 33 followers, respectively. I just started The Rant.

  • The Happy Spot — About life, relationships and everything else dealing with human connection.
  • The Write Path — All things writing.
  • The Rant — All things current events, politics and celebrity culture.

If you want to be a content creator for the long haul, a loyal tribe is what you ultimately want.

While I do occasionally submit to more prominent publications, like Curious, The StartUp, The Ascent, PGSG, and others, I rarely do anymore, maybe a few times a month. And my…
