At 21, he already had phenomenal clarity about what he wanted to do with his life (travel) and even sponsors funding his trip. Rohit in my mind was a true Passion Person.

After a sleepy afternoon session during the 2016 TEDxBangalore, we thought that the best of the day was behind us. A few dull speakers and a sumptuous lunch when a guy boomed on stage and showed us a picture of what freedom looks like. He had excellent stage presence and spoke from everything about celebrating failure to one day calling up his parents in Delhi informing them about his whereabouts.

Listening to him speak, I got charged up. I was eager to meet him. Unfortunately he was unavailable and I shelved the idea of a meeting. This guy was Rohit Subramanian.

A lot of people talk about their dreams and their passions, here was one person who was actually living them!

I believe in giving things a shot. What would be the worst thing that could happen? I picked up my phone and sent him a message on his Facebook Page which has over 11k likes by the way. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to connect with him and he gave me his number.

“I walked up to all the people at a Starbucks and asked them what their life story was. I realized that most of them did the same things. I had to figure out a way to write a different story for myself.”

On a sleepy afternoon in Mumbai, as I got tickets for the Panvel Local from Thane, I wanted to check Rohit’s availability as he had posted an update mentioning that he’s in Mumbai. When I spoke to him the PPP was not live as yet but he was still super cool about it and told me that he would be available in a couple of hours.

I was thrilled to meet Rohit. I was unable to meet him after his TEDxBangalore talk and was excited.

We settled at the Cafe Coffee Day at Andheri, Mumbai. Within a few moment, we were talking. I realized that I would just end up talking and forget all about the podcast. As I got things back into gear, we discussed things ranging from how he’s funding his 170 countries trip on a motorcycle, how it all started and what tips he had for young people who wanted to follow their passion.
