I’m Here!.. Now What?

elle luna brought me here. I mean indirectly. I stumbled upon her featured clip on YouTube >> to a blog post >> to her “The Crossroads of Should and Must” essay here on Medium.

Or maybe it’s synchronicity. Yes, I’m a believer! I do believe everything is connected, including everything we want in life. And the only thing that needs falling into place is you. This is the central theme of The Path to Awesomeness — the book I authored and got published a few months ago.

So I was looking for a place, a blogging platform where I can share my experiences and insights as I tread this path. It’s also a way for me to track myself from time to time, record synchronistic events (this being the first), write new poems, and most especially connect and engage with people.

However, as the header image suggests, I’m kinda looking out for the next signpost. Long story short, I took the leap to what Elle calls the “MUST” road more than 2 years ago.

I am in my own “Hero’s Journey”. I have responded to the calling — to write. I have self-published two books. First came out in March of this year, then another just 3 months after: One Whole Naked Me, my first poetry collection.

Before that, in November 2013, I’ve also founded Friggies, a social enterprise based in the Philippines that is tied to my personal advocacy for natural health. As of this writing, it’s currently in hiatus. Why? That’s a whole another story and we’ll get into it probably in another post.

Fast forward to this day, there’s still one thing missing (or preferably not yet manifested) in the equation: MONEY.

Chris Guillebeau talked about it in his book, Born for This, wherein he said that people who figured out what they were born to do have won the career lottery: the Joy-Money-Flow combination.

“Starving Artist” — Ouch! Ok, I know now that I want to write for the rest of my life. It is what has given me Joy doing it. And it’s something I can really be good at, in the state of Flow.

So, is Money coming next? I believe it is. I know it will. If this is really what I was born to do, then the Universe will support me. God will provide. But I don’t know when it’s going to come. And I hope it comes the soonest possible! Because I want to shift from “Starving” to “Thriving” so I can focus on what I MUST and was born to do, without having to worry about the monthly bills.

Of course, I don’t want to compromise my family responsibilities for being in service to the world.

To the first part of that quote, I do. But to the latter, I do not… yet.

Despite being met with one failure after another, frustrations and disappointments, I’m still enjoying this career lottery game for the most part. For me, it’s more about PLAYING than just winning alone. Because I believe Life is supposed to be fun. We live to experience the joys of being alive.

Who knows, the next lottery draw could be mine.

Or yours.

Until then, let’s keep playing the game. Let’s keep walking the path. Together.

And with that, I want to share with you a poem from my latest book:

My heart and my soul are best of friends.
Inseparable, yet extreme opposite of each.
One’s weakness is the other’s strength.
From the bleeding to death
comes the breathing to life.
Pain gives birth to joy.
One moment you’re broken.
The next, you’re whole.
Painful, at the same time beautiful.
My heart and my soul are best of friends.
And their friendship started
the day you and I first met.
