On Friday, 22 November 2024, during an ultrasound, I learned I had a
huge cyst in my belly, coming from an ovary. This is my diary of the
events that followed that discovery.

It was in the afternoon that I found the results of my blood work online. The hospital appropriately warns that you may see test results before a health official has reviewed them with you.

Three numbers caught my eye — creatinine, eGFR, and CA-125.

In just a week’s time, my kidney values have deteriorated even more. The creatine went from 88,0 umol/L in April 2024 to 96,0 umol/L at the end of November 2024, and only a week later it was 104,0 umol/L.

The same happened with the eGFR. It went from 63,0 mL/min in April 2024 to 57,0 mL/min in November 2024, and a week later it was 51,0 mL/min.

I already had an appointment for my GP to call me in the afternoon, and I mentioned…
