Ever had the feeling you’re not invited to a great party?

Well, most women in science and business know exactly how that hurts.

Besides a lot of complaints from women and one hilarious Tumblr blog, a software company chose to step in and presented a way how advanced technology, e.g. artificial intelligence, can be utilized to support marginalized groups.

They implemented high-precision facial recognition to identify gender roles accurately at the most relevant events in the world.

Over 60.000 analyzed images and an accuracy rate of more than 99% with thousands of anonymous data sets later, the report they published stands out as a horrible symbol of gender inequality nowadays.

Who are the losers? Well, mainly half of Europe.

At the end of 2018, the event software company Bizzabo analyzed thousands of conferences and symposiums during the last five years. From 2013–2018 they examined 23 countries.
