Black Lives Matter protesters gather to counter a pro-police rally that never showed up.

Throughout the evening, protesters raised their fists in solidarity with the Black community.
Protesters stood on barricades to better see the police officers guarding APD headquarters.
Left, Middle: Beginning with three women, protesters occupied 8th Street. Far Right: Someone used their car to block off 8th street before being asked to move by police.
Helmets, umbrellas and flags also bore messages of the BLM movement.
Protest organizers used a megaphones to speak to the crowd and to APD officers. They spoke of police reform and safety tips for protesters.
Police officers guard their headquarters from protesters. Windows have been boarded shut and officers keep watch from the roof.
Left: APD headquarters has been blocked off. Right: Barricades have signs that say, “No Trespassing.”
Protesters came armed with masks and signs carrying the BLM message.
Left: Protesters gathered by the APD parking garages. Right: After macing the crowd, officers put up barricades between protesters.
Protesters taunted APD officers with doughnuts.
At 8:45, protesters mobilized to march on City Hall.
