Pepo is the Place for Crypto Conversations

Let’s start a conversation.

We are thrilled to introduce Pepo Conversations, a new solution that enables the people shaping the crypto movement to host and join video conversations. The thousands of users already sharing 30-second videos on the Pepo app can now, for the first time, engage in real conversations via threaded video replies and @mentions. This makes it possible for the community to hold AMAs, debates, give feedback, provide answers, organize distributed teams, and more. Basically, to do what the makers, builders, collaborators of crypto do best — connect.

We built Pepo for the community to come together for authentic, human interaction. Since launching in October at Ethereum Devcon5, growth and usage of Pepo has exceeded all our expectations. Users describe Pepo as a mix between TikTok and LinkedIn, and we have received inspiring feedback that the blazing fast, smooth user experience makes our dapp feel just like a normal app.

But we also heard loud and clear that people craved more. People wanted to use Pepo to share, interact, and participate.

So we got to work evolving Pepo from its initial, mainly one-way experience to a place for genuine conversations.

We are proud Pepo has already helped propel the crypto movement forward as the first crypto-powered app approved by Apple for in-app purchases of tokens and cash-out options. Every “like” sends a token from the viewer to the creator — Pepo has enabled crypto makers and enthusiasts to share short videos with seamlessly integrated tokens of appreciation. This makes likes more meaningful while helping curate the experience for everyone. Early Pepo users have created thousands of original videos and sent more than 50,000 peer-to-peer decentralized token transactions through the app — to show appreciation for users’ videos and to support makers and their projects.

Pepo Conversations is another new innovation designed to take the crypto community to a new level of connection, with short video threads.

Pepo replies nest underneath each other, so users can easily follow along and join the conversation at any point. Users will see how many replies there are on each Pepo video and be able to easily add their own reply, or just jump in at any point in the conversation.

With Pepo Conversations, persons posting a new video will now also be able to set a price for others to reply. The idea is to discourage spam and to nurture serious, high-quality engagement. Anyone who pays the designated price can post a reply, which takes the form of a 30-second video — the same format as the original post.

In the near future, we are also looking into adding a feature that allows users to send rewards for the best reply in a conversation.

Users will need to upgrade to the latest version of the Pepo app in order to host and participate in conversations.

You Ask, We Listen

Much as Pepo app facilitates crypto conversations, our own product model is to conduct continuous conversations with our users. We love talking to the community about how we can keep improving their Pepo experience.

In the first few weeks of Pepo’s life, the №1 feedback point from our conversations with users was a clear desire for better ways to host interactive conversations on Pepo — to reply to videos, to @mention others, and to join in conversation threads.

That ability to host and participate in conversations has also been a common thread running through the main use cases we’ve seen and heard developing in the Pepo community. Use cases in high demand include:

• The ability for projects and makers to host AMAs
• Participate in debates and discussions around specific topics
• Ask the community for input, help, or answers on a topic
• Request project or product feedback
• Set up a collaborative deep dive into an issue.
• Podcasters also told us they wanted to be able to ask their audiences’ input and continue the conversation after their shows end.
• Plus, people asked for the ability to organize DAOs as well as to respond to requests for talent, sharing opportunities and job postings.

Pepo Conversations is designed to solve for a broad range of use cases. This can include kicking off a conversation with a stimulating video; contributing a response, opinion, or question one that is already in progress; or simply browsing and following along with multiple different topics and users, enjoying the dynamic debates playing out in front of them.

Regardless of your level of engagement or the amount of time you spend on the app, Pepo Conversations is designed with you in mind.

We are excited about the intense, creative activity we’ve seen all over Pepo so far, and grateful for the overwhelming support and feedback coming from the community. Our goal is to listen to and build Pepo to meet the needs of our users. Pepo Conversations is the first big upgrade to the app since we launched, and certainly won’t be the last. All improvements to Pepo are the result of intensive listening, designed to meet the needs and wants of our community as told to us by that very same community.
