The pursuit of constant learning and the gift of mentorship
By Vani Kola on February 2, 2017
As human beings, we are lucky to have an endless quest for knowledge that no other creature on the planet is gifted with. Our curiosity and ability to learn new things has helped us innovate and solve some of the biggest challenges. Henry Ford once said, “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young”.
A “young” mind gives leaders the ability to connect the dots between people and ideas, where others see no possible connection. Today, a well- rounded perspective is more important than ever in order to anticipate what comes next and succeed in an ever-changing and evolving world.
At Kalaari, we are focussed on growing the next generation of leaders by providing them the opportunity to learn from pioneers and peers in the industry. With this in mind, we created Kstart and hope to play a small part in continuing the parampara of mentorship and peer-learning.
We believe the best leaders are constant learners and also enablers of continuous learning for their organisations. In this spirit, I am happy and incredibly excited to organise our second Kstart Institute for our portfolio companies. We do this twice a year and are really fortunate to have great minds willing to carry forward the tradition of mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurs on whom India pins a billion aspirations.
As important as continuous learning is, it is equally or even more important to share the learnings and pass it on to your peers, employees, young entrepreneurs and your network.
Taking that knowledge forward requires thought, reflection and dedication on the mentor’s part. I therefore would like to thank our distinguished speakers at kstart institute 2017, for their generosity and commitment to pay it forward.
Looking forward to an inspiring day.
