If you have never tried these delicious Polish treats, let me tell you that you are missing out. Pierogies are pasta shells stuffed with mashed potatoes. I can tell you all from personal experience of growing up with pierogies as my favorite meal, they rule! They may seem a little boring just a ravioli like shell pan-seared in butter, but there are many pierogi recipes out there that will leave your mouth watering.

Here are five different ways to ‘spice’ up pierogi experience:

  1. Bacon wrapped pierogies are a simple treat that will have your taste buds watering. This delicious recipe is simple and easy to make. To start off you just need a box of pierogies (preferably Mrs.T’s Pierogies http://www.mrstspierogies.com)and a package of bacon. You then just have to wrap individual pierogies in bacon and then grill our sautee the pierogies until they are all a nice even brown color.

2. Parmesan Mini Pierogy Fries- Next up, is a succulent recipe that is also an easily prepared pierogy dish. To start off you need pirogues, olive oil, parsley, and parmesan cheese. These pierogies are better off prepared in an oven to give a crispy shell to the pierogy. Once the pierogies are fully baked, lather them with the olive oil, and then ad the parsley and cheese. Expect these pierogies to be a to-die-for snack!

3. Buffalo Chicken Pierogies- These pierogies have to be handmade, but worth the hassle. The ingredients needed are puff pastries for the shell, chicken, hot sauce and ranch. To make these pierogies you have to blend the chicken, hot sauce, and ranch together and then stuff a pierogy sized puff pastry. Once all put together, it is best to bake the pierogy for the most delicious result!

4. Cheddar Pierogies and Eggs — This next dish can be served up hot for breakfast! The ingredient for this meal is two eggs, served however you liked them cooked and a box of bacon pierogies or cheddar. To only preparation is to sautée the pierogies and separately cook the eggs! The blend of pierogies and eggs go well together fulfilling your breakfast needs.

5. Loaded Pierogies- Last but not least, loaded pierogies are served great as an appetizer or side dish. You can add whatever you want to these pierogies and explore different ingredients. However, the basic recipe includes pierogies, cheddar cheese, bacon, sautéed onions, and sour cream. The first step is laying the base with pierogies and then layering them with all of the ingredients. After all of the ingredients are smothering the pierogies, place them in the oven to melt everything together. This recipe goes great on a snack table for any event!
