To commemorate the one year anniversary of the 2016 election, thousands will gather in communities across America to “scream helplessly at the sky” on Nov 8.

Citizens of Philadelphia will unite at City Hall starting at 6 p.m. and continue until seven. The “helpless” screams are in protest of the outcome of the 2016 election. According to the Facebook page, people are encouraged to scream from their backyards “in solidarity” if they cannot make it to Center City.

Approximately 500 participants are expected to show up to scream. The event is hosted by Philadelphia United for Progress, self-described as a “feminist, grassroots, intersectional group of passionate Philadelphia progressives.”

Philadelphia Voice adds that the Facebook group acknowledges that they are not helpless, but instead “were trying to capitalize on the string of nonsensical Facebook events that have been popping up on many users' newsfeeds.”

“This administration has attacked everything about what it means to be American. Who wouldn’t feel helpless every day? Coming together reminds us that we are not alone, that we are part of an enormous community of activists who are motivated and angry, whose actions can make a difference,” Johanna Schulman, an organizer for the event, told Newsweek.

There are many videos sweeping the internet poking fun at the event.

Many other cities across the country will be hosting their own screaming parties. Some of these include Boston (expecting over 4,000 people) , New York City, Chicago, and Austin. PJ Media says, “It doesn’t get more pathetic than this, folks.”
