76ers Ben Simmons takes families on holiday shopping spree: Christie Ileto reports on Action News at 11 p.m., December 11, 2017 (WPVI)

Santa came in a unordinary form, Latoya Nelson is going to have the Christmas of a life time.

Ben Simmons from the Philadelphia 76ers took a little time off of the court to help those in need. Simmons visited his home town which meant so much to him because it is very hard to overcome being a product of your environment living in South Philadelphia.

Ben went into the Target from his childhood neighborhood, and let the children pick out a Christmas toy. Nelson did not expect to see Simmons walk into a simple shopping trip which turned into a $1000 shopping spree courtesy of Simmons.

Nelson explained how the holidays are a little tough because you want your children to have a great Christmas, but the bills are due. Simmons helping out the Christmas list could not have been better timing.

The greatest favor that Simmons could have done, because it was so unexpected and now the stress of being able to afford Christmas are gone, and spending time with family and loved ones is all that matters.

Nelson, deserved such an amazing Holiday especially since she is a hard working mother.

This was such an awesome story because these are the types of charitable acts that aren’t documented as much as negative media. It is pure joy, and happiness which needs to continue to spread around this time of the year.
