Feminista Jones

Philadelphia based leader Feminista Jones is a prominent community activist, social worker, and writer whose Twitter personality never fails to deliver thoughtfully audacious commentary on race, feminism, and culture in America. Jones was named one of the most influential Philadelphians by Philly Mag in 2017 and has reached national audiences through her contributions to The New York Times, The Washington Post, Salon, and several other publications.

With over 158 thousand followers, Jones is far from being an undiscovered activist. However, if her presence has somehow escaped your feed, consider checking out her Twitter. She keeps her followers consistently updated — with some amazing thread rants — and frequently responds to questions and arguments.

Love Life Of An Asian Guy

Love Life Of An Asian Guy is a blogging personality created by Ranier Maningding, a Filipino-American activist based out of San Fransisco. Maningding is loved (and hated) for his acerbic, boundary pushing takes on politics, race and popular culture. Although his commentary focuses largely on Asian American culture and activism, Maningding tackles all sorts of social issues with his distinctly humorous, and what some might consider abrasive, critical flair.

He currently writes for Next Shark, an online magazine that pproduces content on “business, tech, culture with a focus on the Asian youth market.” He is active on both Twitter and Instagram, but he most frequently posts through Facebook.

Although it may take a while to become accustomed to LLAG’s style and lingo, he remains incredibly active and up to date with current social issues and frequently engages with his followers. You may not agree with him, but his unique perspective on life will certainly spice up your news feed and get you thinking.

Chance the Rapper

Although Chance the Rapper is known first as the young and lovable Grammy-winning artist, his less known for his work as an avid community activist and leader.

In September, Chance the Rapper began SocialWorks, a nonprofit organization designed to fundraise money for Chicago’s high school students.

According to SocialWorks website, the nonprofit “aims to empower youth through the arts, education, and civic engagement while fostering leadership, accessibility, and positivity within the youth throughout Chicago.”

The 24-year-old rapper has championed many other activist campaigns as well including hosting free open mic nights in his hometown, raising money to provide coats to people living without homes in a campaign called Warmest Winter, and most famously leading thousands of voters to the polls on election night in 2016.

Chance the Rapper remains active on Twitter, frequently offering his thoughts on American politics and culture, and keeps his followers up to date on all of his activist endeavors.
