Tidying up your life after consciously messing it up for decades is not easy.

You have hundreds of little bad habits to replace. And it’s hard to start.

It’s like trying to bail water in a sinking wooden boat after being shot with a machine gun.

Still, you have no choice; your life depends on it.

I clung to stoicism with the desperation of a shipwrecked sailor to a plank.

And it worked.

In particular, these three tiny adjustments.

1. Sleep is like brushing your teeth; your mouth will rot if you don’t do it.

“Sleep is a part of life and no less necessary than wakefulness. In sleep, we prepare ourselves for the battle of daily life.” — Seneca.

If I were to go back, I would tell my 33-year-old self that going to bed at the same time every night and getting 8 hours of sleep is his primary goal.
