It all starts with a wolf named Brenin.

Brenin lived with philosopher Mark Rowlands between 1990 and 2000, the experience is detailed in the book The Philosopher and the Wolf: Lessons from the Wild on Love, Death, and Happiness.

The wolf couldn’t stay home alone, or he’d wreck all Mark’s furniture, so Rowlands took him everywhere with him.

Rowlands trained Brenin using pàrt of William Koehler’s canine training to get the wolf to behave well and not be a furry problem to others.

And it was during Brenin’s account of the training my head exploded, and I saw it all clear.

Difference between Wolves and Dogs

Rowlands training his wolf Brenin realized that the intelligence of dogs was very different from that of wolves.

Wolves grow up in an environment where they can be crushed to death if they don’t learn to avoid obstacles such as fallen trees on rocks. And their relationship with the environment gives them mechanical intelligence.
